Space is a treacherous frontier in Starfield, teeming with pirates eager to plunder your cargo and law enforcement officers who take issue with your choice to embrace a life of intergalactic piracy. Eventually, you will find yourself on the receiving end of a relentless barrage of laser fire. However, resourceful Starfield players have discovered a clever solution: constructing hideous, yet effective, spaceships that render them virtually impervious to damage.
The first option, as shared by redditor Morfalath (via Eurogamer), involves creating a spaceship resembling the skeletal structure of a Borg cube. By eliminating the middle section of the ship, which is the AI’s primary target, Morfalath has built a massive structure composed entirely of corners. This ingenious design makes surviving dogfights in space a breeze.
If the square tactic doesn’t appeal to you, the second option, demonstrated by Solace_of_the_Thorns (via IGN), is to construct a ship in the shape of a giant L. By positioning the ship’s farthest point at the intersection of the X, Y, and Z axes, a new midpoint is created that enemy AI automatically targets, resulting in shots fired into empty space.

It’s important to note that this particular design excels when facing enemies head-on, although the occasional stray shot may still find its mark. “As you get closer to the enemy, they actually miss you more, which makes you monstrously good in a dogfight,” explained Solace_of_the_Thorns.
Admittedly, creating such a ship may result in an aesthetic abomination within Starfield’s NASA-punk galaxy. However, substance triumphs over style every time. Starfield has already become the biggest launch in the history of Bethesda Game Studios, attracting over six million players in just a few days. As players continue to explore the game, they are discovering a wealth of content to experience, including the fascinating world of potato physics, efficient leveling up through devil’s yoga, and the secrets of unlimited wealth.
